A few questions about Humira

I had an anaphylactic reaction to Remicade after the third dose, and I have had no problems at all with Humira. I had to stay at the doctor's for 4 hours when we did the loading dose simply because I am allergic to
e v e r y t h i n g. I take my injections in my stomach. The legs hurt me too much. I have blood work done every 6 months or so. With Remi, it was after every dose. Annoying.

Some folks take Benadryl with their shots to help ward off any side effects that might happen. Like I said, I've had none. This has been a miracle drug for me. I started feeling MUCH better within days of the loading dose.

That being said, with the loading dose, I did have a few neurological problems but they were minor and because the loading dose is so high. The maintenance dose has caused me no problems.

I wish you well with your Humira. I hope you have the same benefits I've had....and just as quickly.

I've been on Humira just over a year now and life has been wonderful.

I have not had any reactions other then I have noticed that I get more sinus headaches which I never really had prior to Humira but I am coping with it.

I give my injections in my stomach as the legs hurt more probably because I'm boney.

Blood work for me is usually every 3 months and a yearly TB blood test.

During my loading doses I was there for maybe an hour or so.

My friend just started Humira around Dec.1 2010 for Plaque Psorisis. He has had it all of his life on his arms,stomach and back. He was over last night and should my wife and I how great it was working.

I could not believe how it worked for him. He has normal skin now like there was never anything there. Amazing!

This is truly my Miracle drug and I'm sure it is also my friends too.

After my loading dose I was told to take paracetomol every 4 hours as I'd probably feel flu-ey, I had a migraine the next evening but ever since then (touch wood) nothing! If anything afterwards I'm really hyper and have difficulty sleeping - no more bad effects so far but I always take a couple of doses of paracetomol after to keep the flu-ey side effects away.
Oh and the nurse visited my home to show me how to inject for the loading dose but got me to do it myself, she then waited with me for about half an hour as I had an anaphylactic shock to remicade but think that was more for my own confidence than because they actually thought I might react again.

i started humira a month ago, had the loading dose in doctors office and had to wait around for about 15 minutes after shots to check for reactions. i felt a little light headed right after the shots, but it didnt last long. i opt to do the shots in my legs, and they do sting when the medication goes in, but i just read if you ice the area a few minutes before it doesnt hurt as bad, so im going to try doing that with my next injection.

i did feel kind of fluish a few hours after, but it was just that one day of the loading dose...ive been fine with my other injections. ive noticed my sinuses get stuffed up sometimes, and ive been getting a sore throat off and on...i think it has something to do with the medication weakening my immune system because i almost never get colds or the flu.

on a positive note, humira has helped my stomach a great deal so far. the pain is alot better, my trips to the bathroom are shorter, and im begining to eat foods that i couldnt eat before again. if it keeps up, im antisapating on a good healthy year.

I think you are seeing a pretty consistent response on the board that will hopefully put you at ease. I have completed two loading doses. The company that manages the drug in Canada, Progress, let me down, and did not send a nurse so I administered the medicine myself based on the simple instructions. Felt slightly light headed but that is all. The light headedness was less on the second loading dose of 2 injections. Be prepared for a bee sting with each injection (I use the pen) but no lingering pain effects. Only side effect I really noticed was constipation for the week after. I inject my tummy based on the advise on this board.

All in all a lot simpler and convenient then Remicade which I was on for two years. While obviously it depends on the person, I noticed a strong improvement in about 5 days, and I hope you have the same good fortune and that we all have some lasting effect with this drug.

Lovemyboys, I have been taking Humira for around a year(weekly since May) and I have had no issues with it except it burning a bit during injection. I always use my stomach and you can put some ice on it first to numb it a bit.
