If you are busy please skip this post as this is not serious.   I am an American who decided to go to India for business for two weeks. My doc says my Crohn's is moderate (about 6 out of 10) and I am fanatically compliant about SCD. I thought I would share my experience re this trip.   I ordered a glutton free meal for the trip (Delta to Dubai) and it sucked. It had rice and rice cake. Thank goodness I ate a good meal before boarding as the little bit of chicken and a couple of tomato slices I could eat had to hold me over. They served the same meal twice, so I ate about 4 ozs of chicken and maybe ½ of a tomato on this 14 hour flight. I had some grilled chicken and a fruit cup (watched the fruit being prepared) in Dubai. I went India Air to Hyderabad (about 4 hours) and could not eat anything.   So I ate light, but stayed SCD compliant and felt good but hungry after the trip.   Arriving in Hyderabad at 5:00 am the car and driver I booked were not there. Needles to say I was happy when he showed up about 15 minutes later.   I checked into the Marriott and the folks were gracious and welcoming. I told them I wanted to speak with the chef. I went to the executive lounge for breakfast and had an omelet (no oil, butter, fresh eggs, onions, tomato, hard cheese), some fruit and a coffee. It was great. As I was sitting there the chef came up and asked how he could help. I told him my SCD story, and asked him if a) he could prepare my yogurt exactly to my instructions including using the yogourmet starter and maker I brought b) guide me to what I could order from the menu and c) make me frozen apples and cinnamon to add to the yogurt for dessert. He said yes to the yogurt and apples and said instead of ordering from the menu he would make me a custom meal for every meal.   Yesterday I went to the restaurant and told the server to tell the chef “David” was here and without ordering I got a SCD meal made just for me. I had soup, a spinach dish (very smooth and almost creamy but no cream) and a chicken dish. It was great to not have to worry about what I was eating.   I am hoping to get my yogurt and apples tonight for dessert. I am also getting a list of the famous Hyderabad dishes like Chicken 65 and biryani and I am going to challenge the chef to make them but SCD compliant.   So far I am feeling great and enjoying the food.   My wife is mad at me for going cause she figures I will get sick for sure. I really hope she is wrong. I figure I can do it, but for sure I might be wrong. I might not be able to travel like this in the future so I figure I have to give it a go. Am I nuts? Any suggestions? I am here now, so I have to make best of it. dave

Good for you to have things going so well for you like that with the diet!  Then enjoy the rest of the trip.

Go on and live your life. We can't let Crohns ruin everything in our life. I travel with my hubby to Mexico every year, and I love it. This disease takes so much from us, when we are feeling good, we should take advantage of it and enjoy life. Hugs to you, and enjoy your trip!

Go for it Dave. We never know what the future will bring so enjoy all you can now.

Delta, do you think that customs might have a problem with taking/sending the meds to the US?

Yesterday I took my team with me to the hotel. I had them prepare SCD compliant food for all (nan and rice were served) but the veg, fish and mutton were SCD compliant. I asked "Is this real Hyderabad food?", if yes "Is this good Hyderabad food?". They told me yes to both and in fact the fish is up there with the best thay have had. And I loved the food. So all is going great. I had my SCD yogust and apples again. I am still feeling strong and stable. I have been losing weight, but with the amount that I am eating I expect this trip will add 5 lbs.
I am still keeping my fingers crossed, but so far all is good.
