Humira and chicken pox

I have now been on Humira since the beginning of November and have been doing really well on it.
Just one query though, my grandson has just recently got chicken pox, his spots only came out yesterday(thursday) and the last time I saw him was on tuesday. I know it does say in all the booklets etc to stay away from people with chicken pox etc because our immune systems are suppressed whilst on Humira, but should I contact the gastro nurse and tell her that he has chicken pox and when I last saw him, or not? And how long is it supposed to be advisable to stay away from him or not? I don't want to have to go off the Humira as I am doing so well on it, and am worried this will take me way back to flare after flare if I did.

Hi. Yes you should tell the nurse. It might be a good idea to ask about a script for Acyclovir or Valtrex. I don't think they would take you off of Humira unless you actually came down with the virus. Have you had chicken pox yourself before?
