about 20% of those with Crohn's get Crohn's associated arthritis, also called enteropathic arthritis. This type of arthritis ussually acts up when Crohn's intestinal activity is present.
A smaller portion of people with CD develop ankylosing spondylitis [AS]. Some people diagnosed with AS develop Crohn's. There is a correlation between the two diseases and research is going on about this. AS will flare independent of Crohn's. This is what I have.
There are several people here that have Crohn's and rheumatoid arthritis.
Since you are having joint issues independent of any flares - you should ask to be referred to a rheumatologist to get to the bottom of the problem. A rheumy will do testing to determine the cause and get you on proper treatment that hopefully allows you to get back to the gym.
