Just whining.

So last week I started on 15mg of pred to help ease the joint pain I've had since December. I kept putting it off, but after I saw the rheumy last week and started crying because I was so tired of joint pain, I gave in. It seemed to really help, and I was hopeful that after a couple of days I didn't seem to be psychotic or an insominac. Yesterday I dropped the dose down to 10mg, and I'm moody, and just want to crawl out of my skin, and my joints are just a little achy.

I wish there were a better way to deal with this. I should be thankful my Crohn's seems to be under control, but I'd really almost rather go to the bathroom all day than deal with mood stuff, and have joint pain. Sigh!!

Aww Pred the med we love to hate;) I just saw my GI lastweek and was asking him if it would be okay for me to use 5 mg Pred for 2-3 days when my joints flare, and he said it would be okay. I know how much I hate it too, but the pain is too much for me sometimes. Hugs!

I've done that too Gail. Just taken 3 days of pred in small doses, then no reason to wean and no side
effects. Does work well sometimes for lupus pain, and I've also been prescribed a weeks worth at 10mgs
with no taper!! Worth trying for joint pain Sarah!

I really think if I had to use pred. I would do it like vicki says, but I would need to be in asylum when I do that. I've never taken a drug that made me wig out more than pred.I'm type 2 personallity, pred turns me into the worst type 1 I've ever been around. does anybody else have that, I drove my poor wife nuts, I didn't evan taper i just wanted that crap out of my system. I was on it for 30 days. I couldn't think straight, at the time I was blackjack dealer at casino, I couldn't evan do math,I had to do alot of multipling and addition, but weird numbers, for instance I would have to know (fast) $3,768. x1 1/2. those type numbers, you had to know that stuff without scratch paper or counting with fingers. or $184 x 17. I mentally would break it down into 10's or 5's and multiply that way. I was good until pred came along, then I would freeze. crazy gambler's would say, what's wrong with you can't add?

That's good to know about only taking it for 3 days. I think the rheumy's plan is 3 weeks on 10 mg. At this point I'm not sure I can even last 10 days. I thought is was the higher doses that made me crazy, but I think I'm uber sensitive to it.

Just always nice to know folks here understand the "joys" of pred. I guess on the plus side I did get a lot done at work!

my neighbor has MS. and they put her on heavy dose, she wall papered her master bedroom, crooked, she had to redo it.

I would like to add a warning to AG's post yesterday. If you are on Prednisone for 30 days, do not, I repeat do not, just stop taking Prednisone. You could cause an adrenal crisis and be in serious danger.

I actually enjored being on Prednisone, even though it kept me up I had so much energy and focus. I got so much done, and my room was all clean and organized.I cooked a lot and I didn't mind all the eating.

I didn't realize all the weight and moonface I gained until after looking back at pictures :p but that was still better than the alternative haha.
