So I am sure that this is a common question. I have done some searching through the forum posts but I thought that I would just ask.
Back story: about 2 weeks before my remicade treatment I began having severe joint pain and swelling. I went to my general doctor and she felt that it was due to my remicade and referred me on to my GI. She also did some tests to rule out gout. I talked to my GI and he felt more that I was maybe having a flare. I had a ct scan and it did show inflamation. I went ahead with my remicade treatment and he put me on entocort. The joint pain got marginally better but not enough for me to be able to just tough it out. I called my GI back and asked for a referral to see a rheumatologist. He gave me a name (although he may have just been humoring me) and I have an appointment in the middle of April. I am nervous about the appointment because either something really is wrong and I have another thing to in addition to the Crohn's OR it is just due to my Crohn's and I will have to deal.
Here is the question. Based on my symptoms do you think that this is just normal crohn's joint issues or do you think it maybe something more? I know that you all aren't doctors and I have an appointment coming up but I just keep obsessing about it and would like to hear some feedback from you all.
Here are my symptoms:
Joint pain and swelling in hands and feet
Joint pain in shoulders, knees, elbows and recently for a few days my jaw
Bumps on the joint on my elbows and fingers
The joint pain/swelling/bumps will be in a certain area for a few days then go away only to move to a different area (this just continues although my hands and fingers have bumps, swelling and pain most of the time)
I am at my worst at night, some nights I can barely walk because my feet/toes hurt
The pain/swelling is on both sides of my body or will start on the right side and then the next day will be on the left side too
Some neck pain that lasted about a week and then went away
Swelling and pain in my wrists (has made it very difficult to pick up my baby girl)
Thanks for listening to my obsessive joint novel :)
