Remicade or Humira

Hi All,

Our teen boy has Crohn's with fistulizing disease...perianal fistula.  He's had three courses of Remicade and within a week of removal of the seton, his fistula was in full-flare.  After three months, is it advised to stick with the Remicade or switch to Humira?

Hi BumbleB, I also have fistulizing crohns disease with perianal fistulas. I also had a seton but I had for about three months. Perhaps the seton was removed too early. My surgeon said that you potential keep it for years, until an infection occurs. When you remove it there is a chance the fistula could develop abscesses.
I would definitely stick with Remicade. I was on Remicade was about five months and have sadly had to switch to Humira (Body was building up tolerance) Only bad thing about Remicade is that you have to go to the infusion center, but for many its a plus. It definitely helped me thou, ALOT.

Humira is suppose to be as effective, but to be honest, I'm skeptical. The needles are NOT that bad thou. Don't be discouraged about what you read.
