No IV access!! Update!

I was sent for an update of liver panel bloods Stat!! Now they can't even get blood out of me. I was sent home,
and told to tell the ordering doctor that access couldn't be made. I tell ya, I'm getting sick of this whole deal.
If only they had readmitted me last Thursday, perhaps things could have been avoided, like being too dry for
blood draws!

I'm so sick of everything... Sorry about the rant!!

Drink a lot of water! That's what I do when they have trouble finding veins. It usually works for me. I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling too good. Cheer up : )

I'd been drinking for most of the day. When I was in the hospital 2 weeks ago they had to place a PICC
line for the same reason!!

Oh Vicky, that really sucks doesn't it. I am not quite at the sent home from a blood draw stage, but I have been dealing with this since my surgery. At my last CT, it took 6 sticks before they got a vein. When I went for blood the next week, I drank a ton before and I wore those fingerless gloves all day to keep my veins really warm. That might help. Now that the holiday is over, can you get yourself admitted for some much needed fluids and bowel rest? ((((HUGS))))

Vicky everytime I am hospitalized that have issues with IV's and blood draws as my viens just suck. I always have to have Picc or midline IV's as my viens are so bad. You aren't alone. Hugs!

Ah Dunny that sucks. I've found that if I stay really warm it helps alot. If I'm the least bit chilled they have trouble finding a vein to use. Also, an IV tech one time used what she called the BS method. She sat and chatted with me for several minutes, which relaxed me a bit and she was able to find a vein asap.

Thats why old Sniper has a port..But the @#%$ in the ER seldom are allowed to use it because they are suppose to be a registered nurse to do so and there are few of those when you need blood drawn . Hospital called with the results, liver enzymes still a little high but coming down. Good news for a change!!!
