Hi all, I have been experiencing some abscess fistula drama, and would love to get some feedback. I am taking ldn for crohns, and it has taken me out of an ugly flare. Unfortunately, last summer I had an incredibly large abscess (didn't know, thought it was hemheroids, and let it go waaaaay too long. Ugh.) It has since turned into a fistula. I had a seton put in, and will eventually have it repaired. In the interim, I have developed two small abscesses which I believe are pockets that were not properly cleared from the large abscess that are festering.
My doctor drained them this week, they are still tender. My questions are, does anyone have any recommendations for preventing more of the same? I am doing sitz baths, should I add epsom salts? Baking soda? Oil of oregano? How often do people do sitz baths? Hot or lukewarm water? Are you okay with soap in the area? What do you avoid doing or do that you find helps?
I feel like I'm finally getting this disease under control, and I'm frustrated with this holdout. I can deal with the seton, no problem, but the abscess pain is, well...a major pain in the ass:)
Any suggestions would be most appreciated!
