i may have crohn's

i am currently in hospital on antibiotics and steriods after inflamation and swelling showed up on a ct scan. they say it maybe crohns although this has not been diagnosed yet.

to say i,m shocked is an understatement as they thought it was apendicitus. i have read up on crohns and although i came in with a pain in abdomen. i dont seem to have any nausea, bleeding bowels etc just a little diorraeh.

anyone similar experience to me?h

Everyone is different. Some people don't even see a GI and never have, some just see a general practitioner and if thats all you need then consider yourself one of the luckier ones. Some people can get by taking supplements and eating a certain diet or certain foods or just staying away from certain foods. Others can use just probiotics and similar products.

Then there are others that continually need care from multiple specialists, such as a GI, colorectal surgeons, nutritionists, even psychiatrists or psychologists. Some need to have these doctors and then also be sent to a major university to have a consult with another GI that is even more knowledgeable in IBD or more specific Crohns disease. Some need multiple surgeries.

This is how my daughter was diagnosed. She never had diarrhea or bleeding. She did have nausea and pain in her side when she flared: appendicitis can cause nausea, too, so at first they thought it was appendicitis. Instead, a cat-scan showed inflammation and narrowing (a stricture) in the small intestine.
