How much warning ?

Ohhh boy , something new. Lately I have been having a new wrinkle to deal with. I can be feeling fine, not gassed up, not running to the bathroom every ten minutes , all in all felling good then , WHAM , got to go NOWWWWWWW . Not kidding I have only moments to get to a rest room and then once done, I'm ok for an hour maybe two or three and then look out . There is no rhyme or reason here. No warning feelings or sounds. No cramps or gas just an instant dire need to go . Anyone else have this trouble ? I mean I use to have to walk like a penguin sometimes but with this, the penguin will not make the restroom , has to be the cheetah run to get there on time. This is going to make those long drives a big problem. As the Brits say, best get some nappies .

Nope, No problem. You get used to it. And just go when you have to. If you're not going to resort to getting knifed and having your colon ripped out.
Restroom shouldn't even be the first thought in your mind.

You have to learn to adapt and be more creative than just looking for a restroom. And if my stomach was falling apart, and I didn't think I could make it to the rest room, like I had to crap real bad I wouldn't be running..

Car Doors can afford some level of privacy ( you mentioned a road trip). So if you have to take a dump, and are on the road or are in a parking lot, open both car doors. there is also trees, wooded areas, dumpsters.

always keep a change of clothes, some wipes, tissues, some plastic grocery bags, hand sanitizer, and some hand towels in your car.

i mean it's not your fault you have crohn's or colitis. knowing there are cameras everywhere, i figure it is better you go outside than inside in a store floor. in a bag or in parking lot, or if possible the woods. anywhere but your pants. ( Elevators or Dressing Rooms are really bad ideas too)

Sorry you are having to deal with this. I sometimes have the NEED with no warning too. So far I have made it to the bathroom, but I am always terrified of it happening when I am out and about.

For the car rides, I would suggest the glad or ziploc disposable containers. They make excellent portable toilets. You can use them in the back seat of the car, pop the top on to seal in the freshness, then throw it away at the next rest stop. I always have one in my car with a small roll of TP inside. It also works if anyone gets car sick. Or you have the need to seal up a doggie bag from lunch. Its a multi use product! Just get the size you feel you can shoot for. You don't want to have any spillage on the car!

Yep , I'm ready for almost anything but tired of having to be ready. Dunny your right of course , there is a stress factor to deal with . I feel like I'm going backward . You know, your born flabby with no hair or teeth . You cant keep your balance or control when and where you pooh . Then you grow old and , well , you get my drift .

Same thing has been happening to me for the past week.  Even on prednisone.  No warning - just go.  I don't even have enough time to run down the hall to the bathroom.  I have about 5 seconds.  Moved a portable toilet out next to bed for night.  Afraid to go to store, etc.  Hoping it is a stress bump as I am still on low fiber foods.  Soooo depressing for me personally as I live alone and have no one to help run errands.

Def have problems like this. I poop myself a few times a year it is pretty embarassing. But its just like BAM, and it all comes out outa nowhere with a contraction of my rectum.

An adult diaper might help. Just knowing that it is available for any accidents will cut down on mucho stress, so hopefully it won't be needed.

hey sniper, I get those everyday, it's the last of my bm's in morning. usually I go 1-4 of those in morning, for me it's pure dark green bile. that's one of my reasons for ssdi. when it comes, it is right now, I mean right now. I use large zip locks when I'm on the road, just pull over and crouch down and go in zip. it's usually just bile. so it comes out like a hose. most days I give it 1-4 times more than that and I have to take codeine to slow it down. I'm super worried when I go out, because if I don't get rid of it in A.M. then it will come out, but it can happen anytime, I also can't eat much until I get rid of it, in morning, because it can turn on me, and inflame my cd site and cause crampy session that can lead to 3-4 pain med's, it's so painful. I had to go this weekend on Sat. I was at my art show and man it hit me about 11 am. I had to run to my truck and get in front seat whip down pants and go in zip.

Aw, heck, Sniper. I've been watching the Mighty Miss news and thinking of you and Camilla.

I agree w/Zanne about the disposable containers rather than the baggies. Just seems like it would be easier to use. Don't need the time to aim for as small an opening on the intended "catcher" but can still seal off the odor until it can be disposed of.

To be truthful I hadn't thought too much about the diaper .... they didn't have disposables when my kids were little. When I think of a diaper it reminds me of the "big burn" w/the scope preps. I know we'd get it off and rid of it ASAP but still .... that diarrhea can BURN. Still the diaper would be better than the clothes. Maybe double diaper dare ya!!

I am so glad I found this. My husband and I have been having several arguments as he does not believe that those flare ups can come without the least bit of warning. I am lucky if I can get a 5 minutes head's up that I HAVE to go or I will have an accident. People who do not live with this condition do not understand what we are going through. I am very relieved to know I am not crazy and that it is very likely that my body will give me little to no warning at all...
