anal crohns starting??

hi,

Hope someone can give me some answers!
My Crohn's, which has been diagnosed for just over 2 years, is all in my small bowel and it has been well controlled for about a year now. about 6-7 weeks ago I started getting some joint pains, mainly affecting my knees and hands. This lasted about 6 weeks, but has more or less gone away now. I didnt see a doctor because i kept thinking "i'l see some1 if i get diarrhoea/ any other symptoms", but none came! about 2 days ago, I started getting pain and discomfort around my anus. (I've had an anal fissure in the past, but this was before my crohns was diagnosed). This pain feels very different to that pain. I've looked and I have what looks like an external haemorrhoid, although i've had no bleeding. I'm 21 and have never suffered from them before. I haven't had constipation or anything ike that.

So basically, my question is: do you think this is the start of anal crohns or is it just a coincidence?

U mite just have a pile there very common and can be easily sorted. Just visit your doctor and there give u summat to help hope this helps.

iDo you know that its not a abcess? I think a lot of times people think that abcesses are actually hemmoriods.

Crohnspatient has some good advice. It could be just a irritated skintag or hemmoroid, but it could be something else. I would give the doc a call. Hugs!

what you are experiencing are known as fistulas, they hurt and will never go away. i have one too, but luckily it's only one, where as some people have up to like 12-15. there are no known cures for them. hope this info helps you some.

A fistula you can get rid of...you can have a plastic surgeon 'core' the area out like I did. They could send you to get an MRI and inject dye into it to show the extensiveness of the fistula. But even then for me it didn't show much in terms of how long it happened to be, the dye didn't go very far. But when he got into the operating room he injected dye again, and when he assumed because of the MRI that it would not take much before the fistula was overflowing actually took almost two full syringes of the dye before it started backing out.

When he was done 'coring' it all out it was almost the size of being able to place his fist into it. That was in November, It's now early May and its almost closed, it takes so long to close because I have a lot of rectal disease, plus the prednisone and immunosuppresents(methotrexate).

Remicade is also well known to treat fistula's, I think quite a lot of doctors use remicade when they need to be using a stronger medication specifically because of the fistula healing process it has, if that patient has a history, or to just try and prevent them also.

So its possible to get rid of these fistula. And its actually not bad at all in getting them removed.

Remicade is known to heal fistulas. So I do believe dls1989 is incorrect, as fistulas can heal. But thats not saying thats whats going on with you. I would speak to your doc about this. Hugs!

Thanks for all of your advice :) I haven't had any diarrhoea, but since I posting, i've started getting tummy pains and more joint pain. The anal pain is still there, although it feels deeper than it did, rather than just superficial. I've had no bleeding. I will get an appointment with a doctor! Thanks for the advice, it means alot to me that I can turn to your guys for advice :)

In the meantime, you might try taking a stool softener if you're having solid bowel movements. I have hemmorhoids and sometimes they cause have pain, and taking a stool softener helps it not hurt as much to go to the bathroom. If you do, make sure you drink a lot as they tend to make me feel dehydrated if I don't drink a lot of water with them.

You definitely should see your doctor and make sure it's nothing that needs treatment. It could be hemmorhoids, disease in the rectum or anus, or a fistula, and your doctor can tell the difference.

I've been having similar joint pain and over the last couple weeks have been having some painful bms... Noticed a little blood while wiping these last few days but I do have skin tags there and I'm assuming that they are agitated/bleeding... I'm guessing that since there's no blood in the bowl that its not from the bm.

I don't know if it could be hemorrhoids/external hemorrhoids but what you said sounded like the skin tags.

Also, I don't know if the tags being agitated and the joint pain are related but I suppose it could be.
