DH is contemplating another resection, one which may leave him with short bowel syndrome. He has undiagnosed back pain, (left side, just right of the clavacle), the pain is similar to what he suffered for months before they figured out he had a perforation which had walled off...that led to a lengthy hospital stay. While he generally has little energy, the past couple of weeks have been worse. He has no appetite and has lost 5-7 pounds. Down to 124# fully clothed; has stomach discomfort and frequent nausea. I called gastro on Monday about back pain, etc. I asked about a CT scan and they prescribed Prilosec and said give it a week. He's getting worse, the hydrocodone doesn't touch the back pain and they don't seem to want to give him anything stronger. They don't want to do a contrast CT scan due to kidney issues. I am beginning to think I see an emergency room trip in our future to force this issue...but should we really have to do that? Geesh...give us a break!
