My use of Wellbutrin for Crohn's didn't work out after many tries. I had a pretty major flare-up last week, and decided to finally give in to my Doctor's advice and start Remicade. It's interesting that most people on this forum have tried a variety of combinations of other meds, before considering Remicade. I haven't been on anything other than the Wellbutrin since I came out of remission 1.5 years ago. Yesterday was my first infusion. It was uneventful, no reaction, no pain, and I the whole thing took just over 2 hours. The woman sitting next to me had been in remission on Remicade for Crohn's for the past 9 years. I was tired all day, possibly from the Bendryl I took before, and slept great last night, and felt amazing today. The nurse told me that if I were to have an infusion-related reaction, that it usually happened on the third dose. My symptoms were not severe, I haven't lost weight, have a great appetite, regular bowel movements, but I was having cramping daily and some flare-ups with night sweats and fevers so I know the Crohn's was causing damage. It was frightening to read of the risks on the waiver I signed, and I hope I've made a good choice. It seems that many docs are prescribing Remicade earlier in the chain for moderate Crohn's, as part of a "top-down" approach.
