Hello I am writing this while crying... I have had crohns for two years now.... i have been pretty good for about 7 months... i weened off entocort two weeks ago and for the past week i have had terrible ab pain and for the past 3 days i have been stuck in the restroom... since its the weekend and i cant get a hold of my dr does anyone know something over the counter i can take to take a rest from the restroom brakes.... PLEASE HELP!!!

ps i forgot to mention my current treatment is asacol HD and HUmira

Some people take Imodium. Personally I don't like to take it as it cause big time gas pains for me.

I would just tell you to hold on now until the morning, and then call your doc first thing.

dunny:thank you ... i actually did take imodium and it didnt really give me pains but it didnt help either.. i am getting sharp pains in my tummy and really cant hold food.... i am praying its not a flare... i actually stopped the prednison last month and finally weened off the entocort so i am actually very bummed that this is all happening...

If Imodium isn't helping and you don't speak to your doc tomorrow, you can go to a walk-in and get a script for cholestyramine. It helps bulk up the stool.

Also, temporarily change your diet until you speak to your doc—either go all liquid (buy some chicken broth, herbal teas, possibly ensures although the sugar might not digest well, etc) or try BRAT bananas, white rice, applesauce, toast (I recommend you try gluten free or sourdough toast). Start a good strong multi-blend probiotic (if you haven't already) and plain white meat like chicken or turkey breast.

I have such a great Dr.. i emailed him a few hours ago and he already responded..i didnt expect a response till tomo... i will go in some time this week... which is great.... i actually took tramadol for the pain and that actually helped me eat a slice of toast with chicken and some rice.... lets just hope this passes/... thank you Roni for your response.... this site is sucha big help and those who take the time to respond god bless you!!

Your are so right.............you have an awesome Dr. I do not have access to any email addresses for any of my Dr's.  They do not give them out.  You are just expected to call the "triage ask a nurse" or to utilize the Urgent Care clinic or ER. 

I am glad the pain medication helped you.  Let us know how things are going for you.
