CT drinking contrast - did it give you D?

That was the worst "fruit punch" I've ever had, but it's not nearly as bad as drinking barium for a SBFT. I had my abdominal CT this afternoon around 4 and now I'm crampy and passing soft stool - heading straight for D. Is this to be expected?

Happens to me when I get CT scans especially a CT enterography.

Agh! I had that horrid stuff when I was hospitalized last December. Except mine was like lemonade. I literally had D leaking out of me, something that has never happened before (this was my first CT scan). I hope to never repeat that again!

You're lucky you got it in a fruit punch flavor. Every time, I had to drink it in water. I had a hard time not puking it back up because the taste was so terrible. But yeah, i always got D afterward and for quite some time too... I'm sure it's different with each person though.

Raspberry flavored stuff wasn't all bad, for the watery stuff. That didn't affect me at all in that regard. The last one I had one done in early june, that time it was coconut with a hint of Palmolive flavor, and was the thicker white stuff. Not too bad on the flavor, far better taste than the last time for the sbft. I only had to pound 40oz or so this time, so no big deal. That one did soften things up a little, but after being inflamed and fighting to take a dump without screaming bloody murder, it was a welcome change.

Yep...always D for me too.  They actually moved me up the list as I was ready to hit the bathroom before I even finished 2/3 of the required amount.....I did warn them that things move faster in my guts than average.  They always just nod and act like I'm a nut...OK I am a nut sometimes but I do know that what goes in....will come back out quickly!

I always have D for like 3 days afterwards, which was terrible.

Yes! My husband had a lot of D after he had to drink the contrast. They say to drink a lot of water to get it flushed out of your system.

I was so hungy after mine.........my appointment got messed up and had already been fasting all that time.  I got sent to a second place with the appointment about 5 hours after originally scheduled. Got done and a Village Inn was right next door so I had to grab some food.  I was there for about 2.5 hours, I had to tell my waiter not to clear the table because I had to spend so much time in their bathroom, it is almost an hour to drive home from that location. So I waited until the D was pretty much done.  I would have never made it home.

It's been 2 days since the CT and I'm still crampy and passing very soft stool. It's lovely! Anyway, I feel ok otherwise, and like some of the other posters said, it's kind of a relief to have my bowels so empty. I don't know if my GI will call on Monday or if I need to call him....I guess I'll wait till the end of the day.

oh yeah -- i forgot- last time they got me in the CT scan machine- all buttoned down etc. and of course right then i had to go BAD!!!! i BARELY made it to the can...holy crap- i almost had an accident right in the machine!!! that would have sucked!
