How do you deal with sitting in a dentist's chair on a bad day?  I have to be at the dentist in 4 hours and of course my gut picked today to not respond to immodium.  I'll warn them when I get in the chair (he already knows I have CD) that we don't want to get involved in any root canal today.  Just the eval and xray will be hard enough to dit through.  I think I'll also pop a xanax, that might help me not be so nervous about having to dart to the restroom.  I can't delay the appt.  I had an abcess pop up last week but he was on vaca, so I had to wait till today AND I leave on vaca on 8/5 so I don't have much time to get this taken care of.  Gee, my body keeps falling apart since I hit the big 5 0 in Feb. -- definitely sliding down the other side of the hill now (lol lol)

 

Hey lamb...not a whole lot you can do other than give the dentist a heads up that you may need breaks in the appt.  The only time I have ever resorted to adult diapers was one dentist appt.  Ihave a horrible gag reflex which sometimes leads to an oops....so just to be less stressed...I wore a depends for my crown fitting.  I have considered it for other appointments becuase even having my teeth flossed makes me gag horribly.

The only other thing I can recommend for the future is make your appts. later in the day when possible.  It's hard for my work schedule, but I gag less in the afternoon.  I also found that I had less sprint to the bathroom worries as I get further into the day so maybe that would help you.

xanax is a great idea- i always try not to eat that day- i try to get appts in the afternoon since i usually have to go to the br less later in the day but also since it's easier with work...i'll also stop at an office building near the dentist and try to use the br before i get there...then pray for the best!
