Who would you recommend as an IBD specialist in the Pittsburgh area NON UPMC.  Since I have Highmark, I started looking around on line at AGH options and I'm not too happy.  They have a grand total of 2 IBD specialists at their Disgestive disease center.  This is really beginning to tick me off!

To bring others up to date on what I'm talking about the biggest hospital system and the biggest insurer in our area are no long on speaking terms.  So as of Jan. 1 I'll have to find a new GI or pay out of network costs (can't afford that). 

Sorry for the rant.

I see Dr. Paul Lebovitz at the Allegheny Center for Digestive Health. He is affiliated with Allegheny General Hospital. I have Heath America assurance so I am still able to see a lot of doctors at UPMC. I lucked out on that one.

JSein86 -- thanks, what is your take on Dr. Lebovitz? I do know he is one of the best in town. I'm just so upset because I have such a good relationship with Dr. Baidoo at Presby. The man actually listens to his patients and is concerned with more than just my CD. When I had abdominal pain he pulled up my pelvic ultrasound results and reviewed them just to see if there was any correlation. Not to mention he always has some cornball joke or comment to make me laugh. And I feel like "I finally have him broke in " after all these years.

I really like Dr. Lebovitz. My only complaint is that it can sometimes be difficult to get in touch with him. I may end up waiting a few days to ask questions.
