 just had colonoscopy and doc said I have inflamation and asked me if I ever had Chrohn's disease.  scared but releaved to finally have some help on this roller coaster ride

Welcome to this thread & hope you find out for sure if thats what you have. Was any of the inflammation with Ulcers or Lesions? I'm sure all the crohn's members here can give you great advice.

I had really bad inflammation too, at one point they treated me for Crohns & Ulcerative Colitis but the meds did nothing. I had my Loop ileostomy May 2011...changing it to permanent this year.

Did the doctor diagnose you with Crohn's or only ask if someone else had diagnosed you with Crohn's?

If the latter, my smart alecky self would have responded "I don't know, have I?"

Did he take a tissue biopsy, and when would you get results back? My understanding is that blood tests can provide indication, but not 100% conclusive evidence of Crohn's, but that colonoscopies could provide appropriate diagnosis.

Thanks for all the replies. The Doc did do a biopsy. Now to wait for the results which I have no idea of when I shall recieve. I understand that inflamation is a symptom of CD and not of IBS, so I'm pretty sure what the results will be. There is a history of colon cancer in my family, mother and twin sister who are both passed now. After reading up on CD I am afraid of complications. I was with my sister for six weeks before she died and I don't want to go through what she did. Just horrible. So I will try to do my best to keep as healthy as possible.
