Hi everyone,

Just wanted to intoduce myself. I used to be on this forum a couple of years ago (under a different username but that email no longer exists) and then needed to take a break. Life got busy and before I realized it, 2 years had gone by. In the past two years the Remicade treatments have been a miracle drug for me. I've been able to live my life relatively free of health issues. I was able to get well enough to date someone seriously and we got married two months ago. We bought a house and are looking forward to starting a family. Haven't been feeling so well the last couple of weeks but I'm not sure if it's a fluke or if the universe is sending me a message. And as incredible as my husband has been, he really can't know what it's like. I've been keeping my fears that my treatment may not be working anymore from him until I know what I'm dealing with. So I'm back because I know that you all know what it's like and I could use the support. I feel guilty for only coming back when things are looking bad. Should have stayed on to support others through my good times too. Everyone on this forum has always been so incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. Got me through some really tough times. Thank you to all those who were around back then!

Heya,

You know the drill, you may end up having to see the DOC again, I'm sure you will know when that time comes.

As for feeling guilty about absence from these boards, you should not worry about that at all. Family is family forever whenever you come back or however long your gone.

Grats on getting married, awsome and the prolonged remission.

I wish you the best. Don't let things get out of control and let's hope it's just a fluke period.

Welcome Back!! Maybe you should get in contact with your doc. Could be you only need to increase your Remicade or maybe add another med in to get you feeling better. Don't wait to long, or it will be harder to get it back under control. Curious though, what was your user name before? Hugs!

Dear ROnnieKR! i dont think you need to guilt yourself because you were living your life happily and in health!

there is no miracle drug from Crohn's nd Remicade wears off over time (usually GIs end up coupling Remicade with other drugs). "In some patients, there is a gradual or complete loss of infliximab efficacy over time, in part due to the development of antibodies to the drug, necessitating increased
dosing to 10 mg/kg, shortened dosing intervals, or the use of an alternative agent" (taken from crohn's disease- a multidisciplinary approach p.124).

I hope you see your GI to get things going!

Also, my boyfriend has been here for me for almost 6 years now for every single attack, poo problems etc. even though he doesnt understand the pain, i talk to him about it so that he can be aware of whats happening to me. we are lucky to have partners that have stuck around so keep him in the loop and verbalize your fears to him. the more you keep things locked inside the more things become lonely.

don't worry and don't stress! it will get better again! :D

Thanks for the welcome and understanding! As it turns out, my coworker mentioned to me today that there has been a nasty stomach bug running through our workplace for the last two weeks! How did I not know this I have no idea. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's the reason I've been symptomatic. But I will definitely call my GI if it continues.

Nanners, I can't remember the username I had used before. I imagine it was something similar to my new one: RonnieK maybe? I'm not very creative when it comes to usernames! :-)
