Maggiern, sorry to hear about your pain. problem is that Remicade was made for rheumatoid arthritis then they figured out that people with crohn's benefit from it. so i would suggest seeing both doctors to get fully checked up! maybe you have both?

i used to have joint pain but now its gone and i just attributed it to my crohn's going into remission.

Bruinsfan: Pentasa, i felt was a joke. i had no effects except for the money oozing out of my pockets. i was switched right away to prednisone which completely ruined me (my molar teeth began to break!). anyways, it was a rough 8 years but im lucky now to have found an alternative that works for me. i dont want to ever worry about side effects again.

ps: make your email available so i can send you the book. there is a chapter on pharmaceutical therapies that they use. quite interesting.

Hey Bruinsfan: crohn's came back within months of the resection, back in the ileum. i was a total mess. i actually feel bad for my GP and GI for having to put up with me crying for years! (i was a total total mess). after Humira not working either, i told my GI that i was going to stop everything and detox from all the crap. right away i got better! i then starting consulting naturopathic doctors and professors to help me keep crohn's in remission. as for my IBS, it hits me about 4-5 times a year in which i get mega constipated then it passes a week later.

my diet is quite important to me and thats whats been helping (including some supplementation). my colonoscopy came out completely clean in april so im quite lucky.

However, i noticed one spot of psoriasis on the back of my arm the other day. i shall see my GP and my naturopath dr to take a look at this stupid thing.

Your do doesn't make any sense, remicade and humira are treatments for rheumatoid arthritis regardless if you have IBD or not. Maybe find a new doc....if it were me I'd be running from that doc. Go to your gastro doc for remicade.

mtgman: it was a slow and experimental process for me with naturopathy. started completely eating fresh food everyday (no dairy, i only drink soy or almond milk now) and not going out to restos. that is the first obviously step. oh plus no smoking or drinking (i now have a few drink a year on occasion now that im in remission).

second: as soon as i would wake up, i would take "intestinew" by renew life (its made of l-glutamine that feeds the gut villi -the little hairs that capture nutriments. usually l-glutamine is taken from the muscles to feed the villus but because we have a disease there is a higher percentage of muscle mass being broken down to keep the villus going). anyways, intestinew worked wonders for me.

third: after i would have intestinew, i juiced a beet, cabbage, carrot and an apple (actually really yummy) and would mix 2 tbs of oral aloe vera gel. (cabbage is know to heal the digestive track as well as the aloe. beet helps boost iron, carrot gives beta-carotene which turns into vitamin A for healing process and apple, well for yumminess).

forth: eating small meals: whether its rice and stew (im iraqi so our typical foods), hummus etc. i also stopped eating heavy carbs such as pasta and bread (although these days i've been defaulting and having a baguette here and there). i also eat alot of salad!!!!tons and tons of it!

and 3 times a day, i take probiotics (with 10 species).

thats it! its not complicated at all and i find it soooo much cheaper than medications! and it has worked worked and worked! of course i'm still being followed by a GI, GP and naturopath to keep me going :D

new issue: found a spot of psoriasis on the back of my arm last week and im getting consulted this week to see what i can do. im definitely not interested in steroids etc! hoping to find a better solution for my life style!
