Diagnosed with Chron's July 1996, when I had a resection from illium up to transverse colon, thought I was having an appendicitis attack. After surgery I took Pentasa, Fagle, and Cipro, I think I even tried a steriod. I got tired of the pills up to 20 a day. I was feeling ok so I stopped it all and was perfectly fine. A few years later, I got a huge soar on my leg treated that with an antibiotic later found out it may have been Chron's related. Anyway, was fine until 2003 when a recto vaginal fistula appeared. Tried Pentasa and a steriod for a year with no results. I went on Remicade in Sept 2004, LOVED it, closed the fistula in 2 months. I was on the Remicade for a year and half, decided it was too expensive and I was feeling good so I stopped. I didn't have a problem, until August of 2010. I got pregnant and went into full flare through entire pregnancy. During pregnancy went back on Pentasa, it is the only safe drug during pregnancy, it did absolutely nothing to help any symptoms. Had my baby in April, beautiful baby boy. I was scheduled for a C-Section a week before baby was due because of the recto vaginal fistula in the past and the fact it had reappeared during pregnancy. I still went into labor 3 weeks early and had my son on the first day of my 37th week c-section still. He was small, 6 lbs 6 oz and only 19 3/4" long (i'm 5'10" and my husband is 6'5"). I was warned with active Chron's that small babies and early are normal. I breast feed until just a few weeks ago. Still on Pentasa, and it is doing absolutely no good. Doc is going to put me back on Remicade. We are hoping it works because I was told by new Gastro doc that I should have never stopped the Remicade and that my body may have built up anitbodies to it and it may not work as good as last time. She wanted me to go on Humira but I ABSOLUTELY refuse to take Humira. I have 3 friends with Chron's and one of them went on Humira and had an absolutely HORRIBLE experience. I WILL NOT take it. Anyway, I loved Remicade when I took the last time. I can't say enough good things about it. I wish you luck and hope it works for me. I am 39 been married 13 years this month and with my husband for the last 19 1/2 years, we met in March of 1992. We had our first child this year! I was too affraid to have children before. It was a rough pregnancy but glad I did it before it was too late.
