A rant and a question about humira

Yesterday morning my boyfriend gave me my humira injection. last night when I woke up, nearly nine hours later, my entire right side of my back (I get the in my lower rt love handle) felt tense and hurt. Since then I have had a burning sensation around my spine several times and the pain will spread to my rt hip/buttock/upper leg. I went to see a GI who I don't normally see and he said I was doing my shot wrong, though I've been doing it this way for a year. So he calls in an RN who is an "expert" in humira administration. She tells me that I need to do it in my thigh because it is an intramuscular injection. I argued that it was a subcutaneous injection and she told me I was wrong. Once she left the room I continued to tell the Dr. she was wrong and the needle isn't nearly long enough for an intramuscular injection. I was right, they found a pamphlet and read up on their info. But he said he wasn't concerned about the pain I am having or the spinal pain/burning issues. I called my regular physician and they say to call my GI about it. I explain the situation to them and now have an appointment but I don't think it's going to get me anywhere. I'm so frustrated. Has anyone else had pain in this way after getting their humira?

On my Humira instructions it said to inject in either stomach or upper thigh - a couple of inches from where leg meets body an even gave a very nice picture chart and dvd just in case you hadn't understood the umpteen pages of information. So, I injected it in top of my legs as stomach area is really tender from all the surgery and difficult to find area not with scar tissue. Anyway, back to your question, no I haven't had that sort of pain straight after injecting. I suppose you could have irritated a nerve, not sure. I would ask your GP and see if they have any answers. Only thing I can suggest is they say not to inject within (this what is said in my literature) 6 inches of previous injection so maybe use side alternately or use top of thigh area to give your side areas a break.
