I was wondering if anyone found any apps helpful in keeping a log of diet, symptoms, BM, or anything else like that.
A quick search of the Apple store shows me apps like myIBD and GI Monitor. Anyone here use these and care to provide a review?
Earlier this year, I was tracking everything in excel spreadsheet. I was counting calories of everything I ate, using a checklist for daily medications, writing down how I felt and any specific symptoms, and keeping track of # of BM's. Then, I also did this for a couple of months after surgery.
For the past week, I've been using "myfitnesspal" app (iPhone) to track my food and exercise. I've regained all the weight I lost prior to and in the days following surgery. My goal now is to keep the weight and not gain more.
This app does seem to be primarily a weight loss tool, but it advertised (and does seem to have) a fairly large food database. It allows you to enter goals of weight loss or weight gain (or maintain weight) and provides you with a daily calorie goal based on your weight and activity level. It appears that I can also change the daily calorie goal without it automatically changing what your target weight will be...I nice option for crohnies like me who don't absorb 100% of the calories that I eat.
Another nice feature about the app is that if you cannot find the food/recipe in their database, you can create the food or recipe. They also have an option for pre-saved meals. This has been helpful for my breakfast. I tend to have the same breakfast 4-5 days a week, so I created a "meal" that I can just add that meal every morning instead of adding each individual item to my breakfast log each day.
