Not much more I can add! It's just a matter now of waiting to see what the colonoscopy shows. The meds may be keeping the inflammation down, but I think there's still narrowing going on. I get horrendous gurgles from time to time, along with the familiar discomfort / pain. It's nothing like what it was, but it's certainly enough to make me stay firmly on the liquid diet for now.

Oh yeah. I'm making a load more chicken stock today. Should be about ready... ;p

@kazbern - You should have seen my expression of surprise after the phone call to the surgery was over <_<. The receptionist actually knew what I meant when I said Fortisip. She didn't ask what it was, how you spelt it, go off for 10 minutes to confer with other colleagues, etc. She just simply said it would be in by today and it was in today.

So it sounds as if it's a waiting game, until you can get your scope done?

Oh well; at least it isn't an absurdly long wait. It sounds to me as if someone (doctor?) is pulling strings to get you seen quickly, and rightly so, too.

I'm having a scope next week. Oddly enough, I'll be in hospital, prepping, just as the Queen does a meet-and-greet drive by, just 500 metres or so away. I wonder if she'll pop in on an impromptu compassionate visit, and cheer me on as I make my umpteenth trip to the toilet?

I wouldn't mind, actually - I haven't seen ERII, and am more than a little miffed to be in such close proximity and confined to hospital. It'd be nice to go out and participate in the pageantry.

Waiting time for a colonoscopy is about a month in my experience, so I'm having it done a bit quicker than normal...

Good luck with the scope - I get to skip taking the lovely Moviprep this time 'cos of being on a liquid diet :p ... Just gotta drink clear liquids only the day before, like Sprite or whatever.

I've never seen ERII either <_<. Perhaps you'll get an opportunity to look out of the window or to go to the hospital entrance and look out at the street? Let me know if you do see anything interesting.

Wow, I'm completely jealous about not having to do the prep. Jolly good thing too, I expect, as a full prep when you're feeling so rotten could knock you sideways, you poor thing.

It'll be interesting getting to the hospital, anyway. I imagine there will be lots of cordons and crowds and diversions and delays.

I'm surprised you can live in the UK and not have seen the Queen. I thought she was always zooming around the countryside, there, and was a tad unavoidable. Have you seen any of them? I saw Charles and Di when I was little: they came here in '83, and all the local schools had a huge rally for them.

I'm not looking forward to the actual procedure itself though, as last time it was incredibly painful (fine all the previous times before that, so I don't know what the difference was). Just hope this time they knock me out good and proper.

Nah, I would say it's a lot easier to not see the Queen than to see her. I haven't seen any Royal Family member in real life. I know people who have, but they've done things like made special trips to see them. I'm not a republican but I'm not exactly a staunch royalist either :-/

I was a republican when I was younger, but now... meh... I have other things I'd rather be passionate about. I'm ambivalent, like you. But I'd still like to enjoy the pomp.

Was the pain afterwards, or during the procedure?

Meh, I don't even make it to anything as committed as ambivalent - 'meh' sums it up :p ... Life is too short to spend worrying about a bunch of rich people I will never meet. I've got absolutely nothing against Prince William and his bint, and wish them a considerably happier marriage than his parents ever had.

It was during. Towards the end I think. Memories... :-/

Exactly. All I could do was feebly beg for more painkiller :-/ (Which I think they did give, but it didn't seem to make much difference).

Bint is British slang for a girlfriend or a young/attractive female in general. Has slightly derogatory or piss-taking undertones, but usually not nastily so. Bird means pretty much the same thing, should you see it in that context.
