Crohn's coming back after removal and ileostomy?

Hey, I'm kinda new to all of this and to here, so I don't really know too much about the disease yet. I've had Crohn's for about 2 years however my doctor completely ignored me that anything was wrong until i finally got to see someone else half way through this year where i was imediatly admited to hospital where they told me i have crohns and was in for 2 weeks on steroids and a drip feed. I went home for just over a month and then the pains got too bad again and i got taken back into hospital. This time they told me that I would have to have the scarred part of my bowl removed which they did firstly not giving me a stoma, however it didnt go as planned and they had to operate 5 days later and make the stoma which sucked to be honest cause being 21 and having a group of friends obsessed with look i felt it was ruining my life which i know is stupid but it did feel that way. That time I was in hospital for nearly 2 months and was pretty ill to be honest. I'm now going into hospital tomorrow to have tests and get it revered tomorrow so I woundered if anyone could tell me their experiences of crohns after the affected area has been removed. I know everyone is different and people can have to go through this multiple times but just trying to get a prespective at it all

Hi, I had my ileosttomy done at 20 yo as my colon was too badly damaged and to be honest it changed my life so much for the better for me. That was 20 years ago. I also have agreesive Crohn's in my small bowel as well and only got into long term remission after I started azathioprine to keep my immune system subdued. Even if you have had affected area removed Crohn's as you probably know can come back anywhere and so you should always be on some sort of maintainence medication to keep it in remission.

I'm sorry you didn't feel at ease with the ileostomy and glad that you are having it reversed and hope that you continue in remission, just remember to ensure that they give you maintainence meds as the disease can continue at a microscopic level and no one will notice it until it suddenly goes nuts and then takes so much longer ti get it under control again. Much better to stop it kicking off in the first place.
