This past week my stomach feels like its burning when i eat pretty much anything. Im on protonix. I think the prednisone is killing my stomach, i dont know if i should ask for a higher dose of protonix at my gi appt thurs... My remicade infusion is friday i dont know if that'll make a diff since my crohns is in my colon. Its incredibly uncomfortable and was wondering if anyone has this problem and what do they do to help it?

I take (2) 40mg Prilosec's daily, am on 40 mgs Pred and taking Remicade and I feel your pain
My stomach/gut sometimes feels like someone has poured gasoline straight on it.
If I have them, I take pain killers when my gut hurts to bad or lay with the heating pad on top of my stomach.
The heating pad really helps

I've been on pain killers pretty much round the clock because my inflammation in my colon kills me if not.
The heating pad does work wonders too. It is my best friend to help with pain in my stomach and when I get kidney stones.
I'm hoping the remicade helps the burning although it makes my stomach burn during the infusion and for a few days after... I'm going to ask about
that when I have my appt thurs. See if there's anything they can give to help prevent/lessen it. Especially getting double the dose this round for the first time..

Andi,
Maybe you can ask about
Carafate to coat your stomach. I haven't tried it because I hear it can be constipating, but if that is not a concern for you, maybe it will help.

Hmm I will have to ask about
it Thursday. I make sure I eat with all my meds anymore to try and coat my stomach somewhat. If it's pudding, yogurt, pretzels, a meal I'll eat something. And no I'm not too worried about
constipation. If being on pain meds for 2 1/2 months straight hasn't slowed things down... I doubt much will. Immodium when I would take it only slowed it down for a few hours.
I'm counting down until my next remicade infusion... 3 days. I hate thinking that the thing I'm most looking forward to next is getting an IV put in my arm to hopefully fix me. I wish it would work faster and I could get off the prednisone and pain medications.
