I came down with a bad sinus and ear infection early December. Antibiotic shot in the rear end and three rounds of oral antibiotics later and I am finally better! I have not had Humira since the end of November. However, I loaded up on probiotics and low and behold, my Crohn's is stable and the best that it has been in years! Go figure? I asked my G.I. if I could continue not taking Humira since the probiotics seem to be doing the trick. He said that my Crohn's is to servere and even though my symptoms are better, more than likey I still have inflammation. On this note, he is concerned that I may have built anti-bodies to Humira which
opens up a whole new can of worms. Since I just completed my third round of antibiotics this week, he wants me to wait another two weeks to re-start Humira just to make sure the infection is gone. He also wants to run stool samples and colonoscopy before we make a decision about
Humira.
Anyone out there think I am reasonable to not want to go back on Humira and see if the probiotics can continue to keep my symptoms under control? Or am I just fooling myself? I am super scared at the thought of going back on it and having some horrible reaction! Has anyone every stopped Humira for a long period of time, if so, did you have any problems getting back on it?
Thank you!
