Scd diet advice & perianal crohns

Hi everyone!

First time posting here but have read many threads over the last year. I appreciate this community so much!

I have crohns, (diagnosed about 5 years ago) but my gut symptoms are not too bed--some diarrhea, constipation, and stomach pains. My most annoying and stressful symptoms are of the perianal variety.

I would prefer to never have to deal with any perianal issues ever, so I recently started the SCD diet with the hopes that it might prevent my disease from progressing, and so that my sore butt can finally heal.

I'm only on day 2 of the intro diet, but already my diarrhea is much worse than it ever has been. I didn't expect to have an issue with tolerating foods because I don't typically have diarrhea.
Usually, I don't eat a lot of meat so I'm wondering if that's the cause? I'm only eating the chicken soup and ground beef, so I'm eating a ton of protein. It seems really unhealthy. I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on this.

Also, I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with SCD and perianal issues? Does SCD work on this butt-attacking types of crohns, or is it really more for the type of crohns that mainly causes diarrhea? Thanks for any input!

What can I say--my Crohns attacks my butt! :)

I haven't tried any of the heavy hitter meds yet.  I've been on Asacol for a long time, but that's it.  My doctor suggested I try 6mp or Remicade, but I really don't want to futz with my immune system if I don't have to.  Lymphoma is pretty big in my family, so that little risk really freaks me out.

That being said, if my Crohns gets worse, I'll do what I have to do.

No fistulas tracking to other organs, or, ahem, lady cavities, thank God, knock on wood, and anything else that I can do to keep it like that.  It's more just recurrant abscesses and fissues that never heal. But I fear the more extensive fistulas very much. 

Thanks so much for you comment! I definitely won't try Tucks.  I'm trying those fissueheal suppositories, but so far they aren't working.

Interesting, David, I take almost the same meds as you. Well, Asacol instead of Pentasa, but otherwise the same supplements and amitriptyline.
