I am now on my 5th week of prednisone..started at 40 mg/day for 2 weeks then 30 mg for 14 days now I am at 20 mg for two eeks then to 15 for 2 weks then 10 for two weeks then 5 for two weeks and I will be done..Thank God...but does this sound like a slow enoygh taper and are the chances of my adrenal glands never functioning again at risk?

That sounds like a pretty standard taper to me. I think you will be fine

Yes, that sounds good. My previous pred tapers were down by 10 mgs every week, so it was a lot faster than yours. Your taper sounds conservative, and I don't think you have to worry about your adrenal glands.

For a person that was on pred for a short period sounds about right...usually it should be by 5mg increments. Your adrenal glands should normally work if u've only been on prednisone for 5 weeks now. Our adrenal glands are at the equivalent of 2-3 pills of 5mg of prednisone...ie our bodies automatically produces this equivalent
