Getting to the end of my rope and considering biologicals for the first time. I am to undergo IVF with a donor egg soon and don't want to compromise my situation. I have been on Lialda and prednisone for way too long. I want off steroids, but torn on going to biologicals. It seems once you are on them there is no going back. I wan to do what is best for the pregnancy as well.

I'm not exactly sure what your question is, but if you're asking about pregnancy and biolgics - I've had 3 successful pregancies on biologics. Two remicade babies, one humira baby, and I'm currently TTC #4 while on Cimzia.

It seems that Cimzia doesn't cross the placenta at all. I took all of my biologics up to the end of pregnancy and all of my kiddos were born healthy. Good luck making your decision. If I can be of any more help, please let me know!

Thanks so much for sharing. I guess I was a bit vague, but was questioning if anyone was on Cimzia while prego. I know it doesn't cross the placenta barrier, but just wanted to hear from those who have experience.

My daughter is 22 months old and when I conceived her I was on CIMZIA and stayed on it throughout my pregnancy except the last trimester. I worried the entire time and even had an obstruction, but in June 2010, she was born healthy and strong. My dr. recommended that I not breastfeed because there wasn't a lot of research out there and breastfeeding wore me out so much, that I opted to not. She is still a healthy baby. It compromised her immune system for about 6 months which really only affected some immunizations. Good luck to you!!!
