Hi Kat61, many things you mentioned rang true for me, I was diagnosed with Crohn's in 2007 and have endured 3 surgeries.
I am a 60 year old Gramma and have 2 grandchildren that like to spend the night with me, only trouble is I spend most of the morning in the bathroom and they are too little to understand. Even if I get 8 hours of sleep I am still tired all the time. My doctor has me taking 2 Ferrous Fumarate tablets (iron) daily and they seem to help. Taking them with orange juice makes the iron absorb faster.
You might want to check my post titled "Imodium how much" where I talk about taking alot of imodium. I was trying to find out if anyone else took as much as I have to. Case in point, I had a half hour drive to my doctor's yesterday and I always worry if I can make it without an accident. I have to take at lease 10 imodium to cover me for about 4 hours. I try not to take it too often, so it limits where I go. I only shop in places where I know where the bathrooms are.
One of the other things you mentioned were your trips to the hospital, last year I was taken by ambulance to the emergency room 7 times for what they diagnosed as a probable obstruction. My symtoms were always the same. I would wake up with excrutiating pains around and just underneath my navel, diarrhea, and vomiting, I would be rushed to the hospital, they would give me pain meds and fluids. I usually spend 10 days to 2 weeks, get a battery of tests and then they would say they think I have an obstruction and they want to keep an eye on it. After my release I would be home 2 weeks and then back again for the same thing. My doctor finally put me on a medication called BUSCOPAN and I have not been back to the hospital since. This is an antispasmodic drug and it really seems to help, I know I will never stop taking it.
I am sorry for particular situation, so I hope some of the things I said will help, the main thing is to know that "you are not alone in this disease."
