Entocort Question

Hello everyone.

I had a flare recently and doctor put me on 9mg Entocort. My bowel movements went from 3-4 a day to one a day, pretty quickly, which is great. However, the one bowel movement I do have, is kind of loose. Not diarrhea, but not formed either, which I had before my relapse.

I remember last time I took Entocort 7 years ago, my stool firmed up pretty quickly, but I have been taking it for 3 weeks and its still a little loose. Doctor said it might still firm up more, but I'm a little worried that the medicine is not having the same effect anymore, which is making me pretty nervous, as I do not want to take prednisone. I should add, that when I told my doc that my stool was a little loose, but only once a day, he was pretty happy about that.

I'm on Entocort for 6 months now. I don't remember that I have had a formed bm in months. Entocort relieved my intestinal pain, but it did not reduce my bms. I still have the daily 6 or 7 and sometimes more bms a day. I would agree with your GI that it very satisfying to have one bm a day even if it is loose. This could be as Kazbern has suggested due to inflammation or gluten. Try to go gluten-free and see how things go on.
