I need some advice here. I was dx with Crohn's in 2002. In 2004 I became pregnant with my now 8 yr old son. During the pregnancy the meds I was on was pentasa and something else which I don't remember. Now 8 yrs ago my disease was not as bad as it is now. During these past 8 yrs my disease has gotten considerably worse. In 2008 I had to have a small bowel resection emergently after spending three weeks in the hospital sick as a dog. I was running 105 fevers which were not brought down by drugs and I was wrapped in wet blankets and packed in ice. I was severely anemic and required blood transfusions. My potassium levels were critical and I was on a drip of potassium which i'm sure most of you know burn like hell. Anyway it was decided that the bowel had to be removed. I had to have a temp ileostomy. After 10 weeks I had the reversal with the promise that I'll probably get at least 10 yrs of remission. Yea ok. 7 months later I was feeling like crap and went to see my gi. Did a scope and sure enough, disease was back at reconnection site. Back on hard core meds. Again started with fever, pain, and then the oh so pleasurable small bowel obstructions began. Had one every 3 to four months which resulted in three day hosptial stints every time. After a few years of this going on and my last small bowel onstruction happening in february of this year it was decided by me, my surgeon and my gi that the stricture had to be removed. Which is what I did on May 24th. So I'm home now recovering from that. Little surprise for the surgeon though as when he got inside he said I had two blockages. We'd only known of one. Anyways I'm supposed to start on Remicade again. Now here is my dilemma. My husband and I would like to try to have a baby. In july on 2011 I found out we were pregnant. I was on remicade at the time. At my 8 week ultrasound we found out the baby's heart stopped beating. I miscarried a almost three weeks later. My husband thinks it was b/c we were on remicade. Now, my surgeon says not to be on remicade during pregnancy as there is not enough research about it and you don't want to find out ten years from now that something I took during pregnancy is effecting the baby. My husband agrees with him. My gi doc says that there are a lot of women prengnant and taking remicade and there babies are healthy. He says I should take it. Now with that, what the hell am I supposed to do. I have to docs contradicting each other. Who do I listen to? I've been on all the meds: Humira, Cimzia, Remicade, asacol, apriso, steroids, cipro, flagly, 6mp, methotrexate..you name it i've been on it. I'm a severe case where i am non responsive to meds. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry about the novel. I'm just really confused.
