getting CD under control

HI everyone:

sorry to ask so many questions, but I was wandering, how do you get CD under control? I am on endocort, but pentasa makes me vomit and Apriso makes the nausea worse. Can't take humira b/c I have a history of MS and cancer.Should I just "suck it up" no pun intended and take the 5 ASA drugs even though they make me sick b/c the disease could progress and and I could get a perferated bowel?

There are other options besides the ones you listed. If you are intolerant of the 5-ASAs then you shouldn't take them.

Have you talked to your DR about imuran or methotrexate? Is the entocort giving you any relief?

Sorry you're having such a bad time.

Have you looked into LDN, low dose naltrexone?

Do some research on LDN - low dose naltrexone, you can search this forum as they are several threads on this. I can tell you it works!
Here's the Penn State research done by Dr. Jill Smith with LDN and Crohns Patients.

I am on pentasa and I did entocort. Entocort never worked for me, and pentasa at first was rough. I to got nausea, this is how I handled it. That first day I took them within seconds they came back up. so The next dose I ate a peice of food with them, they took awhaile for me to get used to,Now i eat a small something before I tke them, and after a few weeks my diaherra was not gone my urgency was and now I can say after approx two months I an almost symptom free. I also was on a round of flagyl for ten days. . The dr told me its a easy drug, my cardio dr told me if I can adjust to the please try because its a old drug with few side affects its like a asprin for the small bowel. less damaging than all the others. so I plunged forward and I am glad I did, did you talk to your dr, mine said allergy to asprin cant take pentasa its not for everyone, hope it works out for you.Maybe your dose needs adjusted. I would talk to my dr.

Ps I ate a slice of pizza and a icecream cone for the first time in 19 years and didnt get sick, lol

methotrexate scares me... isn't that the chemo drug? I don't think they want to try me on that b/c of history of cancer(chance it may come back). Thought I read something that the 5- ASA drugs really aren't for treatment of CD anyway(recent studies). Endocort really isn't a long-term treatment. Losing health insurance in a week, so if I can't get another job(thought I was going to go back on SSD, can but Hubby has DDD and is on SSD so we make too much to get both medicare and medicaid) and get health insurance, I won't have any meds for CD, MS or any of my ailments.
