The doc is probably calling in Zofran which is expensive and often used for Chemo patients. The advantage of it is that it doesn't make you tired. While you are waiting, the doc can probably call in Phenergan, which is cheap and probably your insurance company won't need the authorization. It does make you groggy...it is an antihisitimine so it makes you thirsty too. When I was very sick this winter, I thought the Phenergan worked better than the Zofran for the nausea. I was so sick and in pain that I really didn't care if it put me to sleep...it also put me out of my misery! I did not have a resection, but I had gastroparesis as a result of a c. difficile infection and everything was making me nauseous! You may want to ask you doc (or others here) it nausea is common after resection surgery and how long it lasts. I hope you feel better soon!
