Got a cold while tapering Entocort

I have been feeling better lately, thanks God. I even managed to eat a mango w/o problems last week. However, I had to start skipping the Entocort every other dose in the hope that I get rid of it after 2 weeks. Meanwhile, I got a cold. I feel very dizzy and am about to faint. I can't tell whether this is coz Entocort tapering or the cold. I have to resist this feeling to get rid of Entocort but I am very fatigued and dizzy. Btw, I don't take any meds for cold and have a sore throat. The only med I am on is pentasa tablets.
Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Hi Minnie,
Sorry you are feeling sick. How long were you on Entocort, and what amount? What has your taper been like? Often people do three capsules per day for up to two months, and then taper down to two capsules per day for a month and then one capsule per day for a month. The only problem I had tapering was when I got down to one capsule my crohns symptoms started in again. Hope you feel better and glad the Entocort has helped you.

I am on my first day of tapering down on Entocort, and tonight the pains are back in the lower right quarter. I have been on 3 capsules for 2 weeks, now starting my 2 weeks of 2 capsules.

Big Betty and Rachh, thank you very much. Well, this is my 7th month on Entocort. I managed two weeks ago to finally go down to 3mg/day but when I had to take it every other day, I'm now suffering from lower right quadrant pain as Rachh does. Fever was getting worse but I'm taking a cold and flu med. Last time I took this med with methotrexate, I was put on iv injections and fluids for more than 12 days and was not allowed anything by mouth. Keeping my fingers crossed nothing happens this time. I'm not following up with any GI and the GP is travelling.

I have also been taking paracetamol every 4 hours in the day as I have also been fighting a virus since the first week. Sore throat, hot & cold aching. Spoke to my GI tonight about the pain last night as my BM have slowed down with no mucus he feels the Entocort is working, I am to continue with the tapering down this week and see how I go. He mentioned I may need to add something else. He also advised me to double up the lansoprosal and take 30mg in the morning before breakfast but 2 hours after the Entocort and again 30mins before tea. Then use the gaviscon in the daytime as a boost when needed.
