Well it's day 6 on Flagyl

And I feel like absolute crap. Around day 3 of this stuff, the trips to the bathroom increased, the consistency is literally water now (it was always water-like but now it's just like... wow), and I am constantly nauseated and haven't been eating well because of that. I have to be on this stuff for 30 days! I don't know if I can go 30 days of this - I don't know if my body could handle it. I'm already underweight as it is. :|

Do the side effects ever subside? I keep reading conflicting stuff. Some people say it does, some people say it doesn't. I'm hoping if I give it a few more days that things will settle down (I read it can take 10 days to see results/feel better), but like with everything else I have taken I have little to no hope here.

Why can't I just feel better already? ;_;

If the Flagyl is making you feel awful, call your doctor and discuss other options. Falgyl is not tolerated by all people, and therefore not a practical option for everyone. Unless there is an underlying infection that absolutely MUST be treated by just Flagyl, there is no reason to suffer like this.

I did notice that my symptoms subsided as long as I took the Flagyl at the same time every day and took it with food.  However, I wasn't having severe side effects like you are.

Thanks guys. Actually, Day 7 is going better. Still having massive D (though I'm not going 13+ anymore. Now it's more like 7-10) but the nausea seems to have lessened. My appetite is starting to return (although I am having some WEIRD cravings O.o) and I'm feeling less fatigued. I'm hoping stools will firm up at some point or atleast the frequency will go down significantly. If it doesn't in the next week or so, I'll be calling my doc. Really trying to avoid going on prednisone this time around though. I don't think my adrenals can handle it anymore.

I never had flagyl and I don't see why it's used for crohn's disease unless there is a fistula or complication. Flagly is too weak for intracellular bactera related to crohn, and for fistula and complications there are better antibiotics than flagyl according to my doctor. I think it's used because it's popular in general.

I heard it helps people but that might because like you said, your stool becomes loose and it might ease pain like that, but it doesn't seem to be effective to treat inflammation.

I get so nauseated on Flagyl. Everything tastes very metallic and overall I feel so bad I refuse to take it. My Dr. always substitutes Cipro and I have no side effects from it.

I was put on it for 6 weeks at a time before in the earlier years of CD... I took phenegren with it for nausea..It seems now I can't tolerate it more than a week without abandoning it. I usually prefer to take cipro by itself or take the flagyl with cipro for a shorter 7 day course..I was given 14 days of cipro and flagyl this last time, and I made it 7 days..
