The doctor that you want is Dr. David Silvers, who works out of an office in one of the medical professional buildings at East Jefferson General Hospital on Houma Blvd. (Doctors to avoid at all costs, if they're still practicing in New Orleans: Dr. Kedia; Dr. Elizabeth McDonald; Dr. Benjamin Guider. This advisory is based on years of Crohnnie experience with NOLA doctors.)
Dr. Silvers is intelligent, experienced, thoughtful, thorough, and attentive. Before Katrina, he ran a lot of clinical trials, but he no longer does so. He got me into remission when I was at a crisis point--and when one of the doctors above was doing nothing for me. He runs a very busy office, but is apologetic if you have to wait, and he's a great listener. Leave plenty of time to find a parking space in the busy (but free) EJGH garage.
I recommend him highly. I feel he's the best GI that you can find in the New Orleans area.
