Will Ileocolic Surgery Help Get Rid Of Acid Reflux???

Scheduled for ileocolic surgery whereby they found a stricture and two sinus tracts in ileum region. I do get burning in ileum when try to eat or drink but no real pain except this burning above.Found ulcers in duodenum and stomach and feel all inflamed. Did get bloating and discomfort when tried to eat and drink but no real pain like other people say. Nexium not helping. Since I lost a lot of weight and dehydrated put a picc line in and on TPN. Now wondering if this surgery will help me. Can't take any Crohn's meds anymore because of bad reactions and causing other serious illnesses. Am I doing the right thing getting this surgery?? Also they want to staple resection but I'm allergic to nickel which is found in titanium staples so now what??

itsme2, if the surgery is meant to deal with the strictures then yes, that is the right thing to do. It's a resection, right? Not a partial or total colectomy?

I doubt that will do much for your upper GI, but getting better in the ileum is probably going to make you feel a lot better all over.

The small intestine is made up of 3 parts: the duodenum (just off the stomach), the jejunum and the ileum. The ileum is by far the longest segment. The last 3 feet of the ileum is often referred to as the terminal ileum. It is unclear where you are referring to when you refer to sinus tracts "in the ileum region" and "burning in the ileum".

"Iliocolic surgery" sounds like it may be surgery at the distal terminal ileum, ileocecal valve, cecum, ascending colon area. I think before you have this surgery that you get a better understanding of just what it is they plan to do and why, what benefit you will gain from it. Ask them to make some drawings to help you understand.

Ask what they will be doing to alleviate the ulcers in the duodemun and stomach.

Have you made your surgeon aware that you are allergic to nickle and that nickle is found in titanium surgical staples?

There is no cure for Crohn's disease, you can NOT leave it untreated. Therefore you need to go over all meds used for Crohn's disease w/your gastroenterologist, eliminate those you've had serious reactions to and those causing other serious illnesses and decide what is left to try or what the lesser of each evil is: active, unchecked Crohn's or the bad reaction(s).

Thanks so much for responding to my post. Yes removing what you said. Hopefully approximately 12" with a little bit of the colon.Since I'm allergic to all meds and have a precursor condition to a form of Lymphoma and another pre cursor to a cancer and am still in my early 30's can't take Remicade etc. so the doctors don't know what to do with me. Prednisone gave me osteoporosis. I've been on Prilosec and Nexium and not helping the upper part of my intestines. Burning !! Don't know what docs plan on doing except trying to control with diet. Got the book Breaking The Vicious Cycle which seems difficult to do. No grains or potatoes etc. Don't know how I will gain weight and if this will get me through the rest of my life. I've had at least four different opinions and they all said surgery but no one addressing the duedonal region and stomach ulcers so I'm extremely frustrated and scared that this surgery won't help me after going through all this.
Yes made the surgeon aware about the staples and the surgery is tomorrow and he still was going to check about it so I guess I will find out day of surgery.
This disease is snarly and I'm hoping I have a chance of quality of life. I'd like to get married some day and have a family and once again be able to work. Have not applied for SSD. Am I being too optimistic? Would like to start my own business.
