Ontario: Humira reimbursement

Hi,

I am a Canadian expat planing to go back to Toronto soon.
I have been on Humira for the last 6 years and it has been a great remission since. My concern now is how is Humira covered in Ontario.
1- Assuming I will be unemployed for some time, how will it be financially covered?
2- If I get employed, is there any restrictions on my coverage from any extended health plan? How does it work?

Humira protection plan. You can find out more on there web site.

Hi,

I'm from Toronto and because I didn't have a health plan as a precaution I applied to the Trillium Foundation to see if they would cover the cost of the Humira infusion if I ever needed them. I was approved for coverage but didn't need it.

Give them a try. I'm not sure if I still have the forms around so I could give you a bit more info. Let me know if you would like me to look for them.

Just want to second the recommendation from mtb. I know of several people getting the funding for Remicade/Humira throught the Trillium Foundation.

I also know of a programme for Remicade called Remistart, but not sure if they have something similar for Humira. I believe it covers the first 1-3 months.
