Hi, all! Short-time lurker, first-time poster. :)
My question is regarding celiac disease and Crohn's. I was diagnosed recently with Crohn's disease (mild, thank God) and have dutifully cut out a lot of foods from my diet in order to improve my quality of life. I go easy on the lactose, avoid grease and caffeine, and try to eat more veggies (my Crohn's alternates between constipation and the Big D).
My father was diagnosed in ~2006 with celiac disease, so I recently cut out gluten to see what happened. I actually feel lots better. I know they're both autoimmune diseases that look very similar, and that celiac is hereditary, but I tested negative for celiac. Is it possible that there's some correlation? I love feeling this way but am hesitant to count my chickens before they hatch.
Also, just looking for some encouragement, I guess. I'm 20 years old and live at university 1,000 miles away from my doctors (and parents!). :)
