Where to find Asacol/mesalamine in Southeast Asia

Has anyone purchased Asacol/Mesacol/mealamine in SE Asia, particularly Cambodia or Vietnam?

I'm an American with Crohn's traveling on a long trip in Southeast Asia (currently in Laos) and am a month away from running out of my Asacol medication. I couldn't find any affordable mesalamine in Thailand (although I didn't look that thoroughly) and it's not available in Laos. If I won't be able to find it in Vietnam or Cambodia I'll have to change my plans. Going back to Thailand would be no problem if it was available there at a reasonable price.

An Indian-made generic Asacol called "Mesacol" is very cheaply and widely available in India/Nepal/Sri Lanka, but I haven't been able to track it down here, and would prefer not to have to fly to one of those countries.

Thanks for the response! I have already seen that post, I'm just looking for a little more concrete information to plan my trip with. If it comes down to it I may just be taking a quick flight to Sri Lanka to stock up.

For anyone who finds them self in the same position as me; I wasn't able to find Asacol in Laos or Cambodia but Pentasa is available in Phnom Penh at the U-Care Pharmacies and at Pharmacie de la Gare. The cost is USD $8 for 10 500mg pills or $70 for 100 pills.

I have found myself in a similar position. I have had Crohns for the last 15 years, for the last 5 I have not taken any meds which was lucky because I've lived in Thailand for the last 4 years. Unfortunately that was not a good idea and I have found myself needing to go back on them.

Did you have any luck getting any mesalamine in Thailand in the end. I see you said that it was not affordable, but it was available? can you offer any more info on that.

Happy to find your post, am struggling trying to sort out what to do before I head back out there for a long stint.
