Doctor office called with ultrasound results - gallbladder and other things look ok, but pancreas looks abnormal. The nurse then asked me if i had a history of pancreatitis (which I don't).
I've had occasional squeezing pain since 3/18, and I recall feeling this once earlier (maybe a year ago?). It came and went within a day and I didn't think much of it.
She asked me to come in on Monday for more blood work. My dad had cholesterol deposits called xanthoma near his eyes, which are typically associated with high triglycerides. I've been checked before, and my cholesterol was marginally high, but triglycerides were normal.
Unfortunately, I skipped my physical last year, so I have no baseline for the triglycerides. Other than my dad having xanthomas and diabetes (type 2 insulin dependent, got itin his 50's), I don't reall having any other risk factors for pancreatitis - I don't drink any alcohol, and apparently have no gallstones.
I a going to stay on a low fat and low carb diet to see if it all goes away. I know that pancreatitis canbevery painful, but so far,it has been pretty mild. I know people here have dealt with pancreatitis - does low fat and low carb sound ok for pancreatitis?
I started reading more online, but it scared me with pancreatic cancer,so I stopped. I also made an appt with my husband's gastroenterologist in case this needed more investigation. Let me know if you have any advice for me. Wish me luck!
