It seems that the perianal abscess I've had more than 2 months ago is still persistent. Back in May, I started having severe anal pain. The surgeon told me then I had a hematoma. When I was having a pelvis MRI for detecting a fistula, they found a perianal suppuration. I was on antibiotic rounds 1g/12hrs for 3 weeks. I became devastated by the antibiotics and abscess was declared to have resolved. A week after, severer pain returned. I was put on antibiotic injections. Things became better. Then, I saw another surgeon and he prescribed ichthammol suppositories for the abscess. He mentioned that this was my last chance. Hopefully, the abscess would open or else he would cut it open. I tried it for 3 days but I had watery diarrhea and sometimes I expelled only muscous. I stopped it. Meanwhile, I developed non-stop vomiting and fever. My GI put me on antibiotic injections again and asked for another pelvis MRI. Should I try the ichthammol again before I undergo the MRI? Has anyone tried ichthammol before? How successful was the treatment?
Any replies are highly appreciated.
