I understand the long term Predisone dance..The lowest I have been on is 5mg..I reacted to all other meds it seemed like before they put me on Predisone..I did have a long stretch of just mild flares that did not overcome my life..I woke up this morning after three days of 50mg looking pretty scary..My face and eyes you could tell right away, and I am feeling the awful side effects..I cut it in half to 25mg this morning hoping by tomorrow when I am due to go back to work I will be better but you never know ..Five days at 50mg I just could not tolerate. 10mg was a magic number for awhile..I have a high demand family and job that count on me, and I get all kinds of upset when I flare like this..I think that is the hardest thing about this dd is the when, how long, and to what extent when you flare..The meds are the second biggest issue for me..what will work this time and how am I going to react..There is this longing for control and to feel more like yourself and be able to function normally in your personal life..I have had doctors that were alarmed at the long term Predisone usage and others that were like if it keeps this dd under control we are not messing with it..If you wants, try and slow taper down on your own..This is easier said then done deciding what is the CD returning and what are withdraw symptoms..I have tried more herbal approaches and diet changes that do help unless you dive deep into a flare..I have been under alot of stress lately in my personal life and on the job that you wonder whether brought the flare on or is it just timing..I think what I am trying to say even more..I want more control over this dd at least which I know over the years is just unpredictable.
