I posted a reply for someone with anal/rectal issues and mentioned something that I recently found to help as a barrier when I have that caustic diarrhea burn I get. This is strictly anecdotal.
I was told to try a 100% lanolin product that's sold for breastfeeding soreness. It's HPA medical grade 100% lanolin, sold in the baby section (the Lansinoh brand is 9.97 at Walmart and about the same at Target).
I have never been able to get any relief from other things I've used when I have diarrhea and it really helped take the burn out. Pure lanolin is kind of waxy, but it's not icky like some things are and it has no smell. And only a pea-size is needed at a time.
I don't know if it would help anyone else for this "off-label use", but it's supposed to be safe for a baby when mom breastfeeds, so I feel safe using it.
