Bentyl 3 weeks after resection

I have been having frequent D with some intestinal cramping following my resection 3 weeks ago. My surgeon gave me some bentyl to try for the cramping, but I am a little reluctant since my resection was not that long ago. I kind of want to see if my system slows down naturally first. Anyone take this shortly after a resection? I am literally going about 10 times per day. Right now it is just an annoyance because I am home recovering, but it will all become a real pain once I return to work.
