Last week, my GI approved of my taking the flu shot as I'm on Imuran and I thought there might be a kind of contraindication. Since I'm a fortunate person, I woke up w a bad cold :D. I took the night and day flu tablets for a week and things became worse. After a week of taking the tablets, I have a sore throat, fever, non-stop vomiting, phlegm, and coughing and sneezing. I can't get hold of my GI and don't know what to do. All my family members caught it but they are not immuno-compromised as I am.
Any suggestions what to do?

That sucks Minnnie. Can you get an appointment on short notice to see your primary care doctor? That way you can find out if it's just a bad cold/flu or if you have some kind of infection like strep or an upper-respiratory infection. If you have an infection, s/he could give you antibiotics to treat it. With just a cold/flu, lots of fluids and rest is the best solution. Unfortunately, they tend to hang around longer for us when we're immuno-compromised.

Vitaka, thank you very much. It seems I have to do this. I'm just worried that if I'm prescribed an antibiotic, d will be severe as usual. No hope that things will become better on their own.

I would suggest that you not take an antibiotic unless you have a positive strep test or pneumonia. If it is a bad upper respiratory infection try to stick it out without antibiotics. They are unlikely to help and probable will make your D worse. Feel better soon

Gumby, thank you very much. I run a very low fever, so I'm not sure whether I need to call the doc or not. The real problem is that I can't keep anything in my stomach and didn't have a bite. D and bloating are there but I think these are normal symptoms of my CD. On the whole, there are flu symptoms.

I finally could get hold of my GI. He suggested Clarinase and when I told him it causes dizziness, he said it is normal to be dizzy when you have a cold. I also asked about stopping Imuran since I have a cold, he said that I have to take my normal dose.
