Ok, so I used to be a lactation counselor, so as you can imagine, I've read lots of studies on the old "liquid gold" that is human breastmilk.
there was an anecdotal story in my student lectures of a woman who drank some breastmilk and her IBS was "cured". Probably somewhat exaggerated, but it got me to thinking about the few bags of frozen breastmilk hanging around in my deep freeze.
I was thinking, what the heck--may as well try it, right? Filed under: couldn't hurt, might help. Which is where I file most alternative/supplemental therapies.
The question being, when is the right time? Do I drink it now, when i'm trying to calm a flare? (Starting Humira as soon as I can get my hands on a TB test) Or, would I wait until after the flare is down, I get my takedown and I am in rebuild gut flora/maintenence mode? I don't have a TON of it, but maybe 6 bags or so.
(all this is assuming I can get over the very idea of drinking my own breastmilk. But everything compares to drinking a gallon of golytely. I bet I can talk myself into it)
